Cape football falters at Central

October 14, 2019

Vince Lombardi once said: “It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.”

The Cape football squad got knocked down 47-0 by 2018 DIAA State Champion Sussex Central Oct. 11 in Georgetown.

The Vikings gained just 39 total yards, making just one first down.

“Central are the defending champs,” said Cape coach J.D. Maull. “They showed it in this game. We couldn’t match their physicality and intensity. Our players are getting valuable learning opportunities.”

The Vikings drop to 1-4 on the season. The Knights have outscored the Vikings 90-0 in the last two seasons.

Cape will host the 2-4 Caesar Rodney Riders Friday, Oct. 18, for the Inclusion Awareness Game. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
