Cape football holds end-of-season banquet

The Cape football squad celebrated its season Dec. 15 at Cape Henlopen High School. Letters and awards were presented by the coaches.

The most valuable offensive lineman went to Cruz Harmon, most valuable defensive lineman went to Jonathan Rodriguez, offensive MVP went to Jaden Davis, and defensive MVP was awarded to Jonathan Rodriguez. The Hard Hat Award was presented to Jonathan Rodriguez. The junior varsity offensive MVP went to Nicholas Campbell, while JV defensive MVP went to Ronniere Parker. Freshman offensive MVP was presented to CJ Fritchman. The freshman defensive MVP was awarded to Ryan Betins. The JV sportsmanship Award went to Thomas Messick. The varsity sportsmanship award was presented to Lucas Ruppert. The Sam Russell Award was given to Damien McFeaters and the Reds Award was presented to Hank D’Ambrogi.

The Tough Guy Award was presented each week by Atlantic Physical Therapy. Winners were Merrick Harrigan-Ferro, Ja’Vaughn Burton, MJ Sheppard, Damian McFeaters, Jonathan Rodriguez, Jordan Baines and LT Messick. Jaden Davis won the award three times and took home the Tough Guy of the Year trophy.

The Tough Guy Award is presented to Jaden Davis by Matt Savini, director of rehabilitation at Atlantic Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. Each week, Atlantic Physical Therapy presented a Tough Guy Award to a player who made a physical sacrifice for the team. Davis won the award three times and garnered the Tough Guy trophy.
