The Cape girls’ lacrosse team won a decisive 16-9 victory over previously once-beaten Ursuline Academy May 10 at Cape’s Champions Stadium.

Meredith Lockwood scored four goals, while Chloe Schaeffer, Sawyer Walker and Alia Marshall each tallied three. Kelly Bragg, Ella Rishko and Anna Stancofski scored single goals. Schaeffer had two assists in the game. Lockwood, Marshall, Lola Messick and Tarrah Welch each had one.

The Vikings outshot the Raiders 20-14. Lacy Dixon stopped five Ursuline shots in the cage.

“It was a much more physical game than we were expecting,” said Cape coach Lindsey Underwood. “Luckily our girls were able to step up on the draw circle to gain possession and stay composed.”

The Vikings coach also gave kudos to their opponents.

“Ursuline is a senior-led team that was well prepared and came out ready for a great game,” she said. “We knew they had some solid players all over the field and were able to make adjustments throughout the game.”

The Lady Vikings finished the regular season 15-0 and await the seedings in the DIAA state tournament that begins Thursday, May 16.
