Cape girls indoor track team finishes sixth at state indoor championships

Twenty-four teams took part in the meet as Tatnall scored 113 points to dominate the girls meet. The Vikings scoring 20 points to place sixth overall. Cape was the top team from the Henlopen Conference. Christiana won the boys championship with 93 points, while the Vikings finished 24th and did not score. Caesar Rodney led the Henlopen Conference in third place with 35 points.

Junior Rebecca Pepper finished with the highest place for the Vikings as she took second in the girls triple jump with a hop, step and jump of 32-0, while Chelsea Pinkett of Delcastle Tech won the event with a 33-4.

Junior Andrea Wells finished third in the girls long jump with a leap of 15-7, while Nikko Brady of Charter won the event with an 18-1 leap.

Junior Shellie Pearsall finished fourth in the girls hurdles in 9.34 seconds, while Arvantis Smith, who jumped 5-2 this season, was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 4-6. Pinkett of Delcastle won the event with a 5-2 clearance.

Senior Tiarah Howell finished sixth in the pole vault with a height of 7-6.
