Cape Henlopen High School recently hosted a career fair, providing 11th- and 12th-grade students with valuable opportunities to explore career pathways, network with local employers and learn about postsecondary options.

Held  April 23 in the school cafeteria and rotunda, the event brought together a diverse group of organizations representing fields such as healthcare, education, skilled trades, military service, hospitality and public safety. Participating organizations included Sussex Tech Adult Education, Delaware Technical Community College Workforce Development, Food Bank of Delaware, Carpenter’s Union Apprenticeship Program, SoDel Concepts, Delaware State Parks, City of Lewes, Bayhealth, Sussex County EMS and multiple branches of the U.S. armed forces.

Students attended the event in scheduled rotations, moving through the fair in 20-minute intervals until the event concluded. During their designated time, students were able to explore at their own pace, visiting vendor tables, asking questions, and gathering information aligned with their individual interests and future goals.

The career fair was designed to provide meaningful, real-world exposure while helping students build connections within the local community and gain a deeper understanding of the skills and education needed for various career paths.

Principal Kristin DeGregory said, “Providing students with opportunities to engage directly with professionals helps them make informed decisions about their futures. Events like our career fair open doors, spark interests and give students a clearer vision of the many paths available to them after graduation.”
