Cape Henlopen Senior Center forming woodworkers group

August 18, 2022

At the request of some current members, the Cape Henlopen Senior Center is forming a new group specifically for woodworkers, which will be open to anyone who makes things with wood.

The group will meet for two hours each week in an open setting to discuss what they are making, thinking of making or just dreaming about. The meeting day and time are to be determined.

In a similar type of group a member once belonged to, each person was asked to bring in something they messed up on to ask for feedback. Beginners and not-so-beginners will be welcome. Wood carvers, artists, furniture makers, refinishers, wood turners, spoon makers, scroll sawyers, pallet wood makers, driftwood fairy house creators, picture frame makers and many others would be welcome. This group format is not set in stone, but in wood. Show and tell is what organizers would like to see, but the concept is open for discussion.

The Cape Henlopen Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays, at 11 Christian St., Rehoboth Beach. Membership is $30 per year, open to anyone age 50 and above. To learn more, call Cape Henlopen Senior Center at 302-227-2055 or go to capehenlopenseniorcenter.org.

The City of Rehoboth Beach permits CHSC members to park for free in the adjacent lot while they are attending center activities. A parking pass from the office is required.

To express interest in the group or learn more, call 302-227-2055 or go to capehenlopenseniorcenter.org.
