Senior Night superlatives preceded Cape’s 10th shutout of the season and seventh no-shots-allowed game Oct. 18 at Champions Stadium, as the Vikings rocked winless Woodbridge 10-0, putting 45 shots on goal.

Woodbridge goalie Katie Adams was credited with 35 saves made all around, up, sideways and down without ever once yelling at her defense, “Get these people out of here.”

Adams, a senior looking to play Division II hockey in college, now has more than 240 saves on a single season. She was asked how she stays positive guarding the cage for a winless team. “I play for the love of the game, and we are a team,” Adams said.

“Our scores have been big, but without Katie, they would have been bigger,” said head coach Krista Wing. “She is our shining star.”

Woodbridge had 13 players dressed for the game compared to Cape’s 24. Cape also played an intersquad JV game prior to the varsity contest, as 24 additional players are on the roster of the unbeaten JV team.

Cape at 10-1 has three games this week, including a home contest against Smyrna on Tuesday, Oct. 23, then road games at CR on Thursday, Oct. 25, and at unbeaten Padua on Saturday, Oct. 27.

“We had some interesting combinations on the field tonight,” said coach Kate Austin. “We started all the seniors, and at the end, it was all the young guns. They are furious and fast, and most of them can play any position on the field.”

First-half scorers for Cape were Alia Marshall, Cami Smith (Marshall), Ella Rishko (Jackie Cannon) and Marcella Sabbagh (Haley Craig).

Second-half scorers were Cannon, Cannon (Sabbagh), Taylor Smith (Emily Monigle), Anna Harrington, Abby Kane (C. Smith) and Reagan Ciabattoni (Anna Stancofski).
