Sabbagh records two goals and three assists
November 9, 2020

Smyrna field hockey scored five minutes into the game Nov. 6 at Champions Stadium on a goal by Kristen Johnson from an assist from Dru Moffett. Cape was coming off a Monday 2-0 loss to Delmar. The Vikings haven’t lost two games in a row in a decade.

“It was just a little scary, but that’s good,” said junior Noelle Sabbagh. “We need to play full speed every minute we’re out there.”

Cape then went off, scoring the next five goals and outshooting the Eagles 18-2, with a 15-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Sabbagh scored two goals, while singles goals were tallied by Kelly Bragg, Lily Ashby and Reagan Ciabattoni. Sabbagh also had three assists in the game.

“We had players who weren’t where they needed to be in terms of intensity in the Delmar game, and I talked to them about it,” said coach Kate Austin.

Cape has two road games this week, playing at Sussex Central (2-4) on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Indian River (5-2) on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Brynn Rifino had 13 saves for Smyrna.
