Cape hosts wrestling state championships March 3-4
14 weight classes contested over two days

Five mats will be laid down Friday afternoon for the start of the DIAA Individual State Championships at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. Early rounds will be held Friday, with championships and wrestlebacks set for Saturday, March 4. There are 14 weight classes of 16 wrestlers. There are no byes and nothing is in the bag. Dreams are realized at the state tournament and an equal number are shattered. There are 224 wrestlers and only 14 will win a state title.
Wrestling back for a place is always a tough road, and often the third-place finisher is an athlete who is very much capable of winning a title.
