Cape JV soccer hosts play day

August 22, 2019

The 2019 Cape junior varsity soccer squad hosted a four-team play day Aug. 21 at Cape’s Champions Stadium and the Vikings’ Bermuda grass field. The Vikings took on the Sussex Central, Indian River and Caesar Rodney JV teams. Matches were 30 minutes.

The Vikings started off tough, being outscored by the Knights 1-0. They outscored IR 3-1 and fell to CR 1-0.

“I know that bringing in 14 freshmen on JV is a bold move for our program,” said varsity coach Patrick Kilby. “We are excited about what our youth will bring our program in the years to come. They are a young group, but they are also a very talented group. I know that they will find a ton of success this season.”

The JV Vikings will host Appoquinimink for a last preseason tune-up scrimmage Tuesday, Sept. 3.
