Cape Life Skills students help prep for move to new building

Students and staff at the Sussex Consortium recently began preparing for the big move to their new building in March.

Students in the Life Skills Development Center started by making a comprehensive list of all the items needed for a kitchen when people move into a new apartment or home. Functional activities that prepare students for their future are one of the many areas of focus at the Life Skills Development Center.

Teachers and para-educators use guiding questions to help develop the list, but students shine while coming up with an exhaustive list and even thinking of things their teachers didn’t consider. Once the students have identified all the items needed for their new kitchen, they’ll work to develop a budget for the items and prioritize the need for each.
