Cape May author Suzanne Simonetti to launch debut novel May 12

May 5, 2021

The Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books will host a virtual book launch and author discussion with Suzanne Simonetti for her debut novel, “The Sound of Wings,” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, via Zoom.

Set in picturesque Cape May, N.J., “The Sound of Wings” weaves together the stories of three women whose lives are upended and then intertwine: 70-year-old potter Goldie, whose shop is failing and who is haunted by her deceased husband; newcomer Krystal, with the flashy new mansion but no friends; and Jocelyn, a distracted writer about to miss a deadline due to a custody battle.

Simonetti gives readers a gripping, touching and memorable portrait of women rising above painful pasts to seize present opportunities and of friendships that grow, despite differences, to sustain and inspire.

“I am honored to announce the virtual launch for my debut novel ‘The Sound of Wings’ with the Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books, my favorite bookstore! These two special places are dear to my heart and just a ferry ride across the Delaware Bay from me here in Cape May. Please join me in conversation with Loretta Nyhan, author of ‘The Other Family,’” said Simonetti.

The discussion is free and open to the public. Registration is required. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us and visit the Virtual Programs for Adults page.

Participants also are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Each copy purchased comes with an archival bookplate signed by the author. Orders may be placed online at browseaboutbooks.com, by calling the store at 302-226-2665, or in person at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
