Cape to play St. Elizabeth Monday at Dover

Tuesday is makeup day if weather impacts schedule

Monday, March 4, is the quarterfinal round of the DIAA Girls’ State Tournament. Seven of the top eight seeds are still alive. No. 11 Howard upset St. Thomas More to advance to the quarterfinals.

Cape will play St. Elizabeth’s at Dover at 7:30 p.m., which follows the Caravel versus Woodbridge game at 6 p.m.

The other side of the bracket is a doubleheader at St. Mark’s featuring Conrad versus Howard at 6 p.m followed by Hodgson versus Sanford at 7:30.

The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center.

The finals are Friday, March 8.  

In the event of bad weather on Monday, the quarterfinals will be moved to Tuesday.    

Cape’s overall record is 19-3. The Vikings lost to the St. Elizabeth Vikings (18-3) 59-50 Jan. 26, but trailed after three periods in that game 46-32. Cape was paced in that game by Abbey Hearn’s 25 points, while point guard Ber’Nyah Ward-Mayo had 24 for St. Elizabeth’s.
