November 3, 2017

The Cape soccer team ended its regular season with a 7-0 shutout of Milford on the Vikings’ Oct. 30 Senior Night.

Senior Uly Slagle opened the scoring at the nine-minute mark unassisted. Senior Zack Gelof scored four goals in his final regular-season contest off three assists by fellow senior Uly Slagle and one from Aidan Spoor. Bradley Seneus and Cesar Larez Carrillo each tallied a goal off assists by Slagle and Senus, respectively.

The Vikings outshot the Bucs 16-4. Cape goalkeepers Jake Gelof and Alan Marin-Quiroz teamed for four saves. Milford’s Jaxson Turner made nine saves in goal.

“It was great to get back to form after the last two losses to CR and Charter,” said Cape coach Patrick Kilby. “We had to work on getting the ball out of our back third to Uly [Slagle] and Zack [Gelof], and we did it against Milford.”

Cape finishes the regular season 12-3 and awaits its seed in the upcoming DIAA State tournament, which will begin play Saturday, Nov. 11.
