Cape soccer downs Laurel 3-0 on Senior Night

The Cape girls’ soccer squad collared the Bulldogs of Laurel 3-0 May 4 at Legends Stadium.

It was apropos that two seniors opened the scoring, as class of 2021 forward Fallon Moore took a pass from midfielder Yaneyra Andrade and put it past Laurel keeper Destine’ Snead for the 1-0 lead at the four-minute mark.

Junior Giselle Garcia scored at the 24-minute mark on a helper from Josephine Ingerski. Ingerski finished the Lady Vikings’ scoring with an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute.

The Vikings outshot Laurel 12-5 and held a 5-3 advantage in corners. Cape keeper Julie Heffernan made five stops, while Bulldogs goalie Destine’ Snead made nine saves.

“It was a fun match; it was great to honor our seniors,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “It was a great team win as we were able to get everyone sufficient time. It’s always nice to get back to our winning ways. Looking forward to playing Lake Forest on Thursday and finishing our season on a strong note.”
