Cape soccer ends season with loss to Charter

Vikings finish with 6-7-2 record
October 31, 2019

The Cape Henlopen soccer team made a trip to Wilmington Charter Oct. 30 and might have wished they had stayed home, as the Vikings fell to the Force 8-0 to end the season at 6-7-2.

The Vikings could only muster two shots on goal, but allowed 20 to the home squad.

Cape’s Alan Marin-Quiroz and Forest Dotterer teamed for 12 stops in the Vikings’ cage.

“It wasn’t exactly the way we would have liked to end the season,” said senior Luke Johnson. “The effort was there from the team; we just couldn’t execute when we needed to. I wouldn’t want to play with any other group of guys for my last year of soccer, and I definitely won’t forget the four years I had with Cape soccer.”

When asked about the season, Cape coach Patrick Kilby stated, “I’ve already got the itch to start again in August.”
