Cape softball falls to Smyrna 4-0

Vikings move to 6-6

Smyrna pitchers Payton Dixon and Carly Maxton teamed for a one-hitter as the Eagles shut out the Lady Vikings 4-0 April 27 at the Cape softball field.

Vikings freshman second baseman Ava Simeone garnered the lone hit in the game.

Cape senior pitcher Marissa Frederick struck out nine Eagles batters, while giving up seven hits and four runs.

Dixon had 11 strikeouts for the Eagles, while Maxton added two more Ks. Sydney Eihinger and Sheridan Price each had an RBI.

The game was tied 0-0 until the fourth inning, when Smyrna broke it open with three runs. They added one more in the sixth to seal the win.

Cape moves to 6-6, while the Eagles are 8-3.
