The Cape Henlopen volleyball team held its end-of-the-season banquet Dec. 2 at Fish On in Lewes.
Head coach Tyler Coupe and his assistants Pam Coupe, Vince Failla and George Ceila presented awards and gave kudos for the team that made history by advancing past the first round of the DIAA Tournament. Guest speaker Dan Cook, photographer for the Cape Gazette, gave a review of the season and praised each player’s part in the success of the team.
The junior varsity Sportsmanship Award was presented to sophomore Madison Mahoney. The varsity Sportsmanship Award was given to senior Mackenzie Parker, while Mikiyah Ennals was awarded with the team MVP. Abby Bucklin received the Golden Flamingo Award that honors the player who encompasses so many ideal traits. She brings her best to practice every day, she pushes her teammates to be better, she’s in the gym first ready to set the net up, and celebrates her teammates success.
“Tonight’s banquet is a great end to what was a wildly successful season,” said head coach Tyler Coupe. “We were able to come together to honor and celebrate both successful campaigns of our JV and varsity teams and pay our respects and send our best wishes to our three seniors. It’s a great night for our families to come together and celebrate their daughters.”
