Cape volleyball gets first W at Milford

September 28, 2017

The Cape volleyball squad broke into the win column with a 3-1 victory over the Bucs Sept. 26 at Milford Central Academy Gym. The team moved to 1-4 on the season.

Seniors Sophia Spinelli and Maddy Holt returned after missing a game with illness to power the Lady Vikings with eight and six kills, respectively. Junior Mikiyah Ennals and freshman Katie Knarr teamed for 11 more. Logan Shuttleworth was credited with 18 assists from her setter position, while freshman Emily Lamb made 12 digs.

“I'm happy we got on track and were able to get our first win of the season against Milford,” said Cape coach Tyler Coupe. “The girls have continued to work extremely hard this season, and I'm happy we were able to get each player involved in the match. The set we lost, we seemed to have lost focus. We made errors we don't usually make, whether it be foot faults with serving, in-the-net errors. That being said, we were able to get our mojo back and finish the way we wanted.”

The Vikings traveled to Sussex Central Thursday, Sept. 28, for a Northern Division matchup with the 2-3 Golden Knights.
