Cape wrestling beats St. Georges 49-20 on Senior Night

Vikings head to CR for big match Feb. 6

The Cape wrestling team fought a tough St. Georges squad over several close matches Feb. 4 at the Big House, forfeiting two weight classes but still coming away with a 49-20 victory on Senior Night.

The Vikings will grapple at Caesar Rodney at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, before competing in the DIAA State Duals Friday, Feb. 8, at Smyrna.

Cape got falls from Chris Handlin (195) over David Lin in 2:21, Billy Ott (220) over Antonio Hernandez in 1:42, Jackson Handlin (160) over Dontae Ferrara in 5:37, Roy Jones (170) over Nate Fulton in 1:16 and Eduardo Saez (182) over Matt Estrada-Diaz in 4:15.

St. Georges earned wins from Andre Boone (285) over Lucas Ruppert 3-2 and Sebastian Sye (126) with a tech fall over Mikey Frederick 18-2.

Cape’s other wins were Carson Kammerer (120) with a tech fall over Richard Lloyd 16-0, Anthony Caruso (132) over Alex Ruiz 10-6, Finbar Rishko (138) over Scott Reagan 9-3, Juan Lares (145) over John Pantazes 9-7 in overtime and Andre Currie (152) with a tech fall over Jonathan Carrion 19-4.
