After blowing away Connecticut in the opening game of the Junior Baseball East Regional, Cape/Georgetown fell in their second game to Maryland 6-5 Aug. 3 in Freehold, N.J.
Josh Reinhold and Kye Wells each had an RBI. Wells slammed a triple, while Nick Cox delivered with a double and a stolen base.
Down 6-0 in the second inning, Reinhold came in from the bullpen to shut down Maryland, striking out nine batters.
“We had one bad inning,” said Cape/Georgetown manager Zac Crouch. “And we just couldn’t pull it out.”
On Aug. 4, Cape/Georgetown defeated Jaffrey-Rindge Mt. Monadnock from New Hampshire 11-9 in their first game of the losers’ bracket.
