Captain Christopher F. Ragni, services updated

September 23, 2021

Captain Christopher Francis Ragni, “Captain Chris,” 63, of Milton passed away tragically Friday, Aug. 27, 2021.  He was born Dec. 19, 1957, in Chester, Pa., son of the late Natale Ragni and Virginia (Luty) Dugan.

Captain Chris was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1975.  A proud veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy for four years on the USS Puget Sound, followed by two years in the Naval Reserve.

Captain Chris worked for Sunroc water cooler manufacturers in Aston, Pa., and Dover.  He then moved on to Sposato Landscaping as a mechanic, from which he retired in 2021 after 15 dedicated years.  Captain Chris was with Anglers Fishing Center as a captain for more than 20 years.  He owned and operated Jam Man Sportfishing.  Always active in the community, Captain Chris was a past governor of the Lewes/Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 and a member of the Milton VFW.  He was a Philadelphia sports fan, with a special loyalty to the Eagles.  Captain Chris was an amazing friend to so many who will remember his goofy sense of humor and love of food.

Captain Chris’ biggest goal was to share his love of fishing, put a pole in a kid’s hand and teach them the craft.  His passion for the water and teaching what he loved to do will be his legacy and will live on forever. Captain Chris was a loving and devoted fiancé, father, PopPop, brother, and friend.  He was loved by many, and will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

In addition to his parents, Captain Chris was preceded in death by his stepmother, Margaret Ragni; and his brother, Dominic Ragni.  He is survived by his beloved fiancée of 15 years, Joni Gray; his children: Amanda Lynn Ragni (RJ) of Georgetown, Christopher N. Ragni (Libby) of Millsboro, Nicholas R. Ragni of Milton, and their mother, Karen Ragni of Milton; his grandchildren, the apples of his eye, of whom he was so proud:  Cruise Hunter Gedon and Sailor Rose Gedon;  his siblings:  Gloria Kriegh of Coatesville, Pa., Steven Ragni of Coatesville, Dianne Allen of Sarasota, Fla., Terry O’Hazza (John) of Rehoboth Beach, Tina Cain (Bill) of Newark and Kathi Elliott (Ben) of Linwood, Pa.;  and his innumerable nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Celebration of Captain Chris’ Life will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m., at the Revelation Beer Garden at Hudson Fields, 29763 Eagle Crest Road, Milton. Immediately following services from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the family invites everyone to stay and visit with them and help in celebrating Captain Chris’ life through the evening. All families and friends are welcome, including children, as Captain Chris would have wanted it. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to benefit the Lewes/Rehoboth Moose Lodge. The Ragni Family would like to thank all the vendors and friends for their participation and support in the services honoring Captain Chris.
