An 82-year-old man crashed his Lincoln into the steps of the Rehoboth Beach Post Office at 10 a.m., Jan. 4, damaging a sign and bench.
The Rehoboth Beach man, who was not charged or injured, was trying to park in front of the post office on Rehoboth Avenue when he mistakenly accelerated instead of braking, driving over the sidewalk toward the post office, said Lt. Jaime Riddle of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.
The Lincoln MKZ struck a sign and bench before coming to rest against the railing of the front steps of the building, Riddle said.
No one was injured as a result of the collision, Riddle said, but the vehicle, sign and bench were all damaged during the collision.
The man was not charged; per Cape Gazette policy his name has been withheld.
