Monetary donations, materials accepted through Aug. 26
August 13, 2020

The Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation’s third annual Caravan of Caring is now accepting school supplies and monetary donations to support Cape district students.

CHEF officials are particularly interested in ensuring that students from low-income homes or those who are experiencing homelessness have supplies they need for success in the classroom. CHEF is also collecting monetary donations for technology and virtual needs for low-income students.

Materials needed include pencils, hardcover binders, pocket folders, loose-leaf paper, composition books, colored pencils, glue sticks, skinny crayons, safety scissors and ear buds.

Supplies will be accepted through Wednesday, Aug. 26, at drop-off boxes at Schell Brothers and Staples in Rehoboth, Lefty’s Alley & Eats and Berkshire Hathaway Realty in Lewes, and Po’ Boys Creole Restaurant in Milton.

In addition, Staples will offer special after-hours shopping times for Cape district parents from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 23; 20 percent of sales that night will go directly to the Caravan of Caring drive.

Monetary donations can be made payable to CHEF and mailed to 1270 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. For more information and a complete list of supplies needed, go to chef-cape.org or email Ashley Reynolds at chef19958@gmail.com.
