Carney eases some sport facemask requirements

Outdoor restaurant seating slightly expanded
April 27, 2021
Some spring sports can be now played without facemasks, and restaurant seating was revised a bit under Gov. John Carney’s latest emergency order revision.

In his 10th revision issued April 27, Carney allowed athletes participating in the sports of baseball, golf, girls’ lacrosse, girls’ soccer, softball, tennis, and track & field to play without facemasks. Athletes must be masked when not on the field.

Carney also allowed restaurants with outdoor seating to serve parties up to 10 people. Tables inside are still set for parties of six, but more than four can now be adults.

“The most important thing Delawareans can do to beat COVID-19 is to get vaccinated,” Carney said. “Talk to your friends and family who have received a shot. Check your local pharmacy for an appointment and talk to your doctor. These vaccines are safe and effective, and they’ll protect you and your family from COVID-19.”
