CHEER car, truck and bike show registration due July 27
After months of quarantine, people are ready to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
CHEER will produce its 10th annual car, truck and bike show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Warren L. & Charles C. Allen CHEER Community Center in Georgetown.
Last year’s event had more than 100 vehicles entered. This year’s theme will be Wheels for Meals – A Decade of Classics. The day of fun will include good food and the musical antics of local disc jockey Sky Brady.
The champagne buffet cannot be offered this year due to COVID-19 regulations. However, guests can still enjoy a delicious pickup lunch featuring Harry’s famous chicken and rib combo barbecue platter being served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individual tickets for the barbecue are $15 and can be purchased on the day of the event. Only 250 platters will be prepared, so buying tickets early is recommended.
Onsite registration for the vehicle show opens at 8 a.m., and all vehicles must be registered and positioned by 10 a.m. or they will not be judged. Trophies will be awarded at 1 p.m. in several categories, and the first 125 vehicles registered will receive dash plaques.
Members of the independent DelMarVa Judging Group will be responsible for judging entered cars. Their combined car show experience goes back more than 30 years. Registration is only $30 per vehicle, which includes the price of two barbecue tickets. Preregistration is encouraged and can be mailed. To register online by Tuesday, July 27, go to www.cheerde.com.

Last year, the CHEER Nutrition Program provided over 314,000 meals to more than 4,500 seniors across Sussex County. This year, CHEER has continued for months to feed senior citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will raise money for CHEER’s Cooking for Sussex Seniors capital campaign to build and equip a new kitchen to provide healthy meals for senior citizens for decades to come. The proceeds will also supplement CHEER’s other programs and services for Sussex County seniors. Participants make a difference in the lives of Sussex County’s senior citizens.
