Chester C. Valentine, dedicated family man

Chester C. Valentine, 82, of Georgetown passed away with his family by his side Thursday, March 28, 2019. He was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Reading, Pa.

Mr. Valentine worked for several years delivering donuts for the Donut Connection, as well as managing a bakery during his time in Reading. He enjoyed country music and visiting its capital, Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Valentine had a talent for woodworking, and loved being outdoors and tending to his yard. When he wasn’t doing these things, one could find him walking his best friend, Bella, his grandson’s Great Dane. Mr. Valentine’s family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Valentine is survived by his beloved wife, Jane (Hafer) Valentine of Georgetown; his daughter, Sharon Griffith (George) of Georgetown; his grandsons: Justin Griffith of Georgetown and Jarrod Griffith of Newport News, Va,; his great-grandson, Gannon Griffith of Georgetown; his brother-in-law, Jerry Hafer (Shirley) of Reading; his sisters-in-law: Helen Broad (Bob) of California, Martha Hafer of Lewes and Jeanette High of Reading; and his 12 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Valentine was preceded in death by his foster parents, Allen and Grace Levan; his twin brother, Charles Valentine; and his foster sister, Grace Vetlesen.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Valentine’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association of Delaware, 108 North Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
