Children’s Learning Garden activities return June 21

June 7, 2021

After a year’s hiatus due to the COVID virus, the Lewes in Bloom Children’s Learning Garden will resume its summer activities Monday, June 21, at Stango Park in Lewes.

To prepare the garden during May, members of the Lewes library teen group Roots and Shoots, as well as Brownie Troop 106 assisted in planting vegetables, herbs and flowers. These will be available for young participants to pick during each session as they ripen.

Lewes Public Library Children’s Librarian Jen Noonan will read garden-related books at 10:30 a.m., weekly starting Monday, June 21. These sessions require preregistration. For more information, go to lewes.lib.de.us.

At 10:30 a.m. each Friday, beginning June 25, Lewes in Bloom will provide a different fun activity for children. Friday activities do not require preregistration. For more information, go to lewesinbloom.org.

The StoryWalk, a joint effort of Lewes in Bloom and the Lewes Children’s Library will present “Carl and the Meaning of Life” by Deborah Freedman. For a StoryWalk, the pages of a picture book are mounted on signs installed along a walking path, so families can enjoy a physical activity outside while also engaging in a book.

Due to the holiday weekend, there will be no events Friday, July 2 or Monday, July 5.
