Children’s Learning Garden story hours to start June 17

Now that school is out, many are looking for activities for the little ones. Lewes In Bloom Children’s Learning Garden will once again offer story hours at 10:30 a.m., Mondays, June 17 to Aug. 26, in Stango Park on Kings Highway in Lewes.

Special activities will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fridays from June 21 until Aug. 23, except for Friday, July 5. At the end of each session, weather and nature cooperating, children may pick fruits, vegetables and/or herbs from the garden to take home.

Dates and activities planned for the coming season include: June 21, Farmer McGregor with his Peter Rabbit and company puppets; June 28, Learn About Bees; July 5, no activity; July 12, Ladybug Day; July 19, Butterflies, presented by Judy Pfister; July 26, Five Senses Day, sensory experience in the garden with music and food; Aug. 2, Arts and Crafts; Aug. 9, Music; Aug. 16, Cooking with Miss Dianne; and Aug. 23,  All About Worms.

No reservations are required. All events start at 10:30 a.m. and last about an hour. In case of inclement weather, activities will be held in the Children’s Room of the Lewes library.

Throughout the summer, the Children’s Learning Garden and the Lewes library are again offering story walks in Stango Park. The first book selected is “The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big, Hungry Bear.”
