Choral Patchwork show to laud Black History Month Feb. 24

February 21, 2019

The Southern Delaware Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Colin Armstrong, will present A Choral Patchwork, its third annual concert in honor of Black History Month, at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

The chorale, consisting of approximately 60 members, will feature guest performers, the Cantabile Women’s Chorus, Sussex Tech High School’s Bella Voce, and VOCE men’s quartet.

The Cantabile Women’s Chorus began in 2004 and was conceived as an ensemble for women over the age of 18 who had choral singing experience and wanted to revisit those skills in a healthy and supportive atmosphere.

The award-winning Sussex Tech High School Bella Voce group is under the direction of Sara Rose.

VOCE, pronounced “vo-chay,” is a new vocal force in Rehoboth Beach featuring local singers Chris Berg, sopranist; Jacques Wieciech, countertenor; Robert Patlan, tenor; and Colin Armstrong, bass-baritone. Music that will be featured during the concert includes “Elijah Rock, I Got a Home in-a That Rock,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and more.

It’s guaranteed to be an afternoon filled with wonderful ringing chords designed as a tribute and will uplift the spirit.

General admission tickets are $15.
