Cinema Art Theater’s ‘Fatima’ to open Aug. 28

August 26, 2020

Starting Friday, Aug. 28, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Fatima,” an uplifting drama based on historical events about the power of faith.

A 10-year-old shepherdess, Lúcia, and her two young cousins in Fátima, Portugal, report seeing visions of the Virgin Mary. Their revelations inspire believers but anger officials of both the church and secular government, who try to force them to recant their story. As word of their prophecy spreads, tens of thousands of religious pilgrims flock to the site in hopes of witnessing a miracle. What they experience will change their lives forever. “Fatima” features the original song “Gratia Plena” (“Full of Grace”), performed by Andrea Bocelli and composed by renowned Italian composer Paolo Buonvino.

Screening times are 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28; 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29; 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30; 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2; and 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
