Clear Space auctioning walk-on role through Sept. 25

September 21, 2020

Clear Space Theatre Company usually raises operational funds through its annual Bowtie & Barefoot Gala. In an effort to provide a COVID-safe event this year, Clear Space instead invited patrons to attend a 2021 Season Preview showcase Sept. 12. During the 90-minute performance of songs from all 13 anticipated shows, it was announced that a walk-on role in “Mamma Mia!” will be offered in an online best bid auction, where bidders can’t see other offers submitted. Once all bidding has closed, the highest amount is determined, and the sum is paid to win the item.

The auction prize includes lines in one scene, plus costume, hair and makeup for the appearance. Other auction items include a catered dinner by Chef Jay Allen of the Elegant Plate for six people at the winner’s home with a private concert by the band Ginger, a 4-digit Delaware license plate, a trip to Mexico provided by Accent on Travel, and other unique offerings.

The auction is open until Friday, Sept. 25. Clear Space hopes to recoup some of the monies that would have been raised during the gala.
