Clear Space to present musical preview of 2021 season Sept. 12
Clear Space Theatre Company will announce its 2021 season with an hour-long, live musical preview fundraiser at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12.
While the pandemic led to the cancellation of the theatre company’s annual Bowtie & Barefoot Gala, it has not dampened the overwhelming determination to bring musical and theatrical arts to Rehoboth Beach.
“We are improvising in the face of this pandemic, and finding a safer alternative that will still be fun and help us raise much-needed funds,” said Stephanie Hudson Whitcomb, Clear Space development director. “The show must go on.”
The 2021 season theme is Here We Go Again. As Clear Space enters its 15th season, the theatre is bringing back popular productions from the last 10 years.
“We are excited to revisit these shows as well as collaborate with the Rehoboth museum and Beebe Medical Foundation on two productions,” said David Button, Clear Space artistic director.
A secret bid virtual auction will be announced during the preview. To bid for items from Sunday, Sept. 13 to Friday, Sept. 25, go to www.clearspacetheatre.org.
One of the auction items will be a walk-on role for one of the summer 2021 shows. It will include lines, pre-show warm-up, costuming, hair styling and makeup. The specific show for the walk-on role will be announced at the Sept. 12 event.
Tables for two are $100; tables for four are $200. A video link ticket to the performance is $75.
COVID-19 protocols of wearing face coverings and social distancing must be followed at all times.
“We were disappointed to have to cancel our signature fundraising event,” said board member Laura Mason. “But keeping everyone healthy is our utmost concern. We will be following all health guidelines during our non-gala gala preview, and hope that you can support us.”
Clear Space Theatre is a nonprofit regional theater serving residents and visitors to Southern Delaware since 2004. Clear Space performs 13 shows during its season and has year-round performing arts education classes for children and adults.
