Clear Space Theatre thanks community

July 10, 2018

One of the nice things about living and working in Southern Delaware is the commitment that our residents have to support one another and the arts. Clear Space Theatre recently held its second annual Tony awards fundraising event at the home of Dawn and Chris Weilminster in Rehoboth Beach.

The party drew more than 100 people and raised more than $18,000 in scholarship funding for students to attend Clear Space Theatre's Arts Institute. Part of Clear Space Theatre's mission is to make an arts education accessible to all. Many of our students receive full or partial scholarships to attend Clear Space Theatre's educational programming.

Clear Space Theatre was able to raise these much-needed funds due to the generosity and support of the Weilminster family, our patrons and, most of all, the fabulous restaurants and businesses in Rehoboth that support live theatre at the beach!

This year, we wanted to offer our attendees a glimpse of what summer has in store for them both at the theatre and at our local eateries in Rehoboth. Guests were treated to a preview of Clear Space Theatre's upcoming summer season and also the amazing food, wine and beer our seaside town has become known for. Our theme was A Taste of Rehoboth.

The party featured delicious dishes generously donated from The Blue Hen, Henlopen City Oyster House, Houston & White, G Restaurant, Eden, Fable, DiFebo's, Confucius and Fork & Flask. Our guests also enjoyed Sposato Wine donated by Outlet Liquors, Bin 66 and Sposato Family Vineyards.

Dr. Abdollah Malek of Rehoboth Beach also donated cosmetic treatments for a raffle that benefited our scholarship program. We also would like to thank our volunteers: Rich and Deb King, Bronwen Adams, Cindy Weilminster, Chris Timm, Laura Mason, John Pitchford, Lara Bellistri, Sydney Gray, Jerry Goldberg, Robert Weilminster, Karen Sposato, Mary O'Neill and Megan Kee of Fable and Houston & White, who personally delivered food from her restaurant for the event.

Clear Space Theatre is very fortunate to enjoy the support of so many wonderful patrons and businesses in our community. The generous nature of our residents and their support of the arts is what makes Rehoboth Beach a truly magical place to be.
