Clyde M. Armold, 94, of Georgetown passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at his home in Georgetown.

Clyde was born in York, Pa., and resided in the York area most of his life until he retired and settled in the Villages of Cinderberry community in 2014.  After the loss of his mother at the age of 3, Clyde was raised by his aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Mark Wagaman.

Clyde graduated from York Catholic High School and attended classes at Villanova University.  He worked as a supervisor with York Corporation where he met his future wife, Miss Lillian Taylor.  He continued his career in a supervisory capacity at Olmstead Air Force Base in Harrisburg, Pa., which led to a career with Dentsply as an inspector, from where he later retired.  Clyde was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Clyde was a veteran of the Merchant Marines where he served from 1945-46 transferring to the U.S. Army from 1946-53 as corporal.  Clyde was very proud of his military service and supportive of military organizations.  His life memberships included the VFW, American Legion Post 28, Izsak Walton League and the NRA.

He loved being outdoors at the Potter County Hunting Camp, hunting, fishing and archery.

He was preceded in death in August, by his loving wife, Lillian E. (Taylor) Armold; son-in-law, Bob Sonzogni; two sisters, Gloria Stauffer and Blanche Staub; and a nephew, Raphael Staub.

Clyde is survived by his daughter, Tina Sonzogni; a stepgrandson, Robert Sonzogni (Milcah); three stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces, Marla Weaver and Lisa Reid; nephew, Scott Stauffer; and a cousin, Carolyn Stiles.  He loved his cat Saige, and all the grand-kitties.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions in Clyde’s memory to Kristi’s Kats, 23000 Sussex Hwy. #103, Seaford, DE 19973, or York Catholic High School, YC Advancement Office, 601 E. Springettsbury Ave., York, PA 17403
