Coastal Concerts collects donated instruments for schools

October 21, 2019

Coastal Concerts would like to thank the community for the wonderful support and generosity shown at its first instrument donation day, held Oct. 12 at Lewes Public Library.

Denise Emery, chair of the Toot Your Own Horn program, said, “I am just delighted at the response of the community to this event. It was our first and will certainly not be the last. We collected 14 gently used instruments, along with music cases and boxes of music, and donations are still coming into the office.”

Coastal Concert’s Toot Your Own Horn program was established in 2004 and since that time, more than 100 instruments have been collected and delivered to local schools for students. “It is a wonderful opportunity to provide aspiring young student musicians an opportunity to play a quality musical instrument,” said Emery.

Anyone who was unable to attend the instrument donation day and would like to donate a used but playable musical instrument can call 410-746-5699. Coastal Concerts can arrange for a pickup or drop-off at the donor’s convenience.

Coastal Concerts extends its thanks to community members for continuing to support its many programs. For more information on concerts and other events, go to www.coastalconcerts.org.
