College Day 5K set for July 29 in Dewey Beach
As part of the 2018 Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Road Race Series, the 16th annual College Day 5K and Kiddie K will be held Sunday, July 29, starting and ending at Northbeach restaurant, 125 McKinley Ave., Dewey Beach.
This race is the annual summer opportunity to bring college buds, friends, family and beach house members, and have fun. The Kiddie K will step off at 7:50 a.m. for children 8 years and under. Dress them in favorite college colors. Following is the 5K run/walk. The morning ends with the post-race party and “just like your college days” includes beer for those over 21. There are also prizes for the best team.
The course is USATF-certified with chip timing by Nova Timing Systems. Entrants receive a gender-specific shirt and giveaways. For $10 extra, get a zip T-neck long-sleeved tech shirt. Gift card awards go to overall male and female, and masters male and female winners. Awards also go to top three in five-year age categories and top male and female walkers. On race day, parking is free in Dewey Beach until 10 a.m.
Registration is available online for this and other 10 Sisters of Dewey Beach races at www.races2run.com. Day-of-race registration opens at 7 a.m. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 from Friday, July 27, until race day. There is no registration charge for the Kiddie K. Register for the post-race party for only $5.
