Common Writing Mistakes workshop slated Feb. 22 in Rehoboth

February 13, 2020

Nancy Sakaduski, an award-winning author, editor and owner of Lewes-based Cat & Mouse Press, will present Common Writing Mistakes at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will cover common errors in story structure, setting, characterization and dialogue.

Sakaduski is the author of the award-winning “How to Write Winning Short Stories” and runs the popular Rehoboth Beach Reads Short Story Contest, which is now in its eighth year. Her talk will cover the common, fixable mistakes she sees in submissions and explain how writers can identify and prevent errors in their own manuscripts. Attendees will come away with practical ways to improve their writing as well as some handy hacks and resources.

“It’s a shame, but I see the same mistakes over and over,” Sakaduski said. “Many are errors that are easily preventable yet harm the writer’s chances of getting their work accepted for publication.”

Common Writing Mistakes is the first in the Browseabout Books Local/Indie Author Speaker Series. The programs, which are free and open to the public, offer a mixture of advice and information about writing and publishing in a friendly, encouraging environment.
