Vietnam Veterans Sussex chapter 1105 awards donations

The Vietnam Veterans of America Sussex County Chapter 1105 presented donations to several local nonprofits. Delaware Veterans Trust Fund and Home of the Brave were given $500 each. Wounded Warrior Project and Stockings for Soldiers each received $300. The chapter also awarded a $300 scholarship to Cape Henlopen High School JROTC Cadet Camila Lascano.

Tree of Cheers for Ronald McDonald House set Dec. 5

A Tree of Cheers event to benefit the Ronald McDonald House is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Beacon Inn, 514 E. Savannah Road, Lewes. To sponsor and decorate a tree, the suggested donation is $60. To sponsor a tree, the suggested donation is $30. UUSD service Dec. 5

Creation vs. Evolution series set Dec. 5, 12

Auditions for Second Street Players’ winter comedy set Dec. 6-7

Director Tammy Crawford has announced open auditions for Second Street Players’ 2022 production of “Bermuda Avenue Triangle” will be held at 7 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 6 and 7, at the Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford. The cast requires six adult roles: two males and four females. Auditions will consist of selected readings from the script. Those auditioning should also prepare 45 seconds of a song that shows their vocal range and be prepared for light choreography. This is not a musical, but there a few song and dance numbers in the show. Performance dates are Friday to Sunday, Jan. 28 to 30, and Feb. 4 to 6. For a show synopsis and other information about Second Street Players, go to secondstreetplayers.com. “Bermuda Avenue Triangle” is produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

Delaware Day on Maui slated Dec. 8

The Annual Delaware Day Celebration on Maui will take place from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Beach Bums BBQ & Grill, 300 Maalaea Harbor Road, Maalaea. All First Staters who were born, raised, worked, played, lived or went to school in Delaware and are visiting Maui are invited to attend.
