Rehoboth Beach student enrolls at McDaniel College
Finn Forcucci of Rehoboth Beach has enrolled at McDaniel College as a member of the Class of 2026. A graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Forcucci plans to study marketing.
Genealogy program available first Saturdays
Sponsored by the Lewes Historical Society and the Sussex County Genealogical Society, the Genealogist in Residence program takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the first Saturday of each month in the Reading Room at the Lewes History Museum, 101 Adams Ave., Lewes. Sussex County Genealogical Society members and seasoned searchers will be available to help anyone who has questions about their family tree. The members come from different areas and can help no matter where one’s family came from. The Lewes Historical Society Archives Family Files also will be available for research. Unitarian Universalists set July 3 service
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will hold an in-person and online service at 10 a.m., Sunday, July 3. Guest minister the Rev. Dewey Beach Liquors 5K set July 4
The 16th annual Dewey Beach Liquors 5K Run/Walk at Northbeach will be held Monday, July 4, at 7:30 a.m. The race is part of the Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Running Series. Awards are all based on chip time and include overall male and female and masters and top three in five-year age groups. Registration and packet pickup take place at Northbeach from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., July 4. There will be post-race food and refreshments, including beer for those 21 and over, at Northbeach. Proceeds benefit the Dewey Beach Patrol, the Tyanna Foundation, Sussex Consortium and Rotary 41 Clubs.
Overfalls to celebrate July 4
The Overfalls Foundation invites the public to join in celebrating Fourth of July events in Lewes.
The Fourth of July Boat Parade kickoff is 1 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at the ship. Lewes fireworks begin at dusk. The public is welcome to join volunteers at the ship for a tour, shop for gifts and enjoy a picnic in Lewes Canalfront Park while enjoying the holiday. The Monomoy lifeboat, normally on display in its cradle by the Overfalls, will be rowed in the boat parade for its annual trip along the canal.
Pathways to Success Pay It Forward reservations due July 5
Pathways to Success’s 4th Annual Pay It Forward event is set for 6 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23, at the Clubhouse at Baywood.
Honorees are local heroes in the community including the Dewey Beer Company, which has hired and mentored Pathways youth; Dr. Nikki Miller, Cape Henlopen High School principal; Karen Sposato, community supporter and advocate; Dan Acker, Pathways to Success board treasurer; and Josie Cicerale, community volunteer.
The event also will celebrate Pathways students Kayla Corbin, Cape Henlopen High School; Katiera Hazzard, Milford High School; Malaki Lewis, Cape Henlopen High School; Esthefanie Jean-Francois, Sussex Technical High School; and Bazeline Medard, Seaford High School.
In addition to the awards presentations, guests will enjoy a seated dinner, music by Shades of Blue, and a raffle and silent auction.
Proceeds will support the youth in the Pathways to Success program in such areas as paying for food, paying electricity and water bills, giving gas cards for transportation to school or part-time jobs, and more.
Tickets are $125 person and may be purchased by Tuesday, July 5, at eventbrite.com.

Out Run Hunger 5K in Milford to benefit Food Bank July 7
The Food Bank of Delaware will hold its inaugural Out Run Hunger 5K Run/Walk South at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 7, at its healthy pantry center at 140 Mullet Run, Milford.
Proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Delaware’s hunger-relief operations in Kent and Sussex counties. Participants will walk/run through Milford and pass the Food Bank of Delaware’s future home on Delaware Veterans Boulevard. An after-party will feature food, libations from EasySpeak Spirits and entertainment by a steel drum player.
For every $1 raised, the Food Bank can provide three meals for neighbors in need.
