Community leaders raise $187K for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

June 5, 2019

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Delaware chapter hosted its Man, Woman & Students of the Year Grand Finale celebration at Baywood Greens May 17.

The event served as a culminating celebration for community-nominated candidates, team members and families who competed in a weeks-long competition to raise funds for the organization. The man, woman and student who raised the most money earned the respective title of Man of the Year, Woman of the Year and Student of the Year.

Collectively, the campaigns raised more than $187,000. This was the second year of holding the Man & Woman of the Year campaign in Sussex County, and the first for the Student of the Year campaign in Sussex County.

Announced winners included Woman of the Year, Kelly Munyan of Nicola Pizza, raising more than $57,000; Man of the Year, Mike Zygmonski of SoDel Concepts, raising more than $35,000; and Student of the Year, Autumn Davis of Cape Henlopen High School, raising more than $40,000.

Funds raised through these campaigns support the organization’s mission to find cures and ensure access to treatment for all blood cancer patients.
