Contractors for a Cause builds pavilion at Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club

August 20, 2018

Board members, Contractors for a Cause members and staff gathered Aug. 8 to officially open a new pavilion at the Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club.

Contractors for a Cause is a nonprofit 501c3 organization of local contractors - Good Contractors doing Good Things for Good People. They help the community using three programs: Helping Hands, Good Neighbor and Legacy Scholarship.

The Helping Hands program uses professional tradesmen or carpenters to make an impact. Through the years, they have completed ramps, remodeled rooms, made countless home repairs and built a home for the Justin’s Beach House charity. The pavilion for the Boys & Girls Club was one of the 2018 Helping Hands projects.

The pavilion project was sponsored by Jake Booth and Capstone Homes. Once the project was discussed at a monthly meeting, there was overwhelming support. The plans, materials and most of the labor were donated by Contractors for a Cause members. Project Manager Alvontae Drummond worked with contractors and Boys & Girls Club staff to be sure everything was completed on time and per plan.

Capstone Homes President Jake Booth, current president of Contractors for a Cause, said, “It is especially rewarding for us, because this pavilion will host classroom activities and provide shelter for children for many years to come. We are so thankful for all who helped make it possible and excited for them to have this terrific space.”
