Cooks & Books presents low-cal vegan cookbook discussion Sept. 27

September 17, 2021

The Lewes Public Library’s Cooks & Books program will host Jillian Glenn, author of “Easy Low-Cal Vegan Eats,” for a live, online discussion Monday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m., in partnership with Browseabout Books.

Glenn’s new cookbook helps take the guesswork out of eating healthier with 60 delectable recipes - each under 400 calories - that will nourish the body while leaving one feeling full. Her mouthwatering foods are made with easy-to-find ingredients and balance proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats to sustain one longer, making one less likely to crash and overeat later. With recipes like apple cinnamon pancakes, black bean burgers, protein-packed power bowls, and vegan meatballs with marinara, the whole family will enjoy Glenn’s indulgent yet practical approach to healthy eating.

Glenn will be in conversation with Denise Clemons, Cape Gazette food columnist and author of “A Culinary History of Southern Delaware.” Registration for the Zoom-based program can be found at the Lewes Public Library’s website (lewes.lib.de.us) or tinyurl.com/zoomwithauthors.

“Jillian Glenn’s new cookbook will definitely appeal to anyone looking for easy and casual recipes, as well as those following a vegan diet,” said Clemons. “I anticipate our conversation with the author will be quite entertaining... after all, she’s named her cooking blog ‘Peanut Butter and Jilly.’”

Participants are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Each copy purchased comes with signed archival bookplate. Orders may be placed online, in person, or by calling the store at 302-226-2665.

Glenn is a nutrition expert and the founder of Peanut Butter and Jilly, a popular food blog specializing in vegan and gluten-free recipes. She lives in Raleigh, N.C.
