Counting on Stan Mills to improve Rehoboth

September 3, 2020

I was glad to read Mayor-elect Stan Mills’ comments and concerns about the future of the City of Rehoboth Beach, and also his plans to involve all levels of his constituency. By and large most of us who live in town live in peace. But overwhelmingly the business community is the tail that wags the dog. The Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber of Commerce and Rehoboth Main Street are located in town and are subsidized by the city taxpayers. But nothing seems to bring us together.

I see the problem as a lack of a cohesive vision for the business community. There has never been a united community taskforce working together to the resolution. What do we see as our goals?  Another Naples, Fla. or  Provincetown?  Ocean City?  Or a pleasant mixture? Many to whom I spoke said more Penny Lanes.

I call on Stan to provide us the leadership to bring the vision together. In America, this requires compromise and the willingness to support the plan. The business model simply doesn’t work.

I look forward to our growth and change. Thank you to all commissioners, past and present.
