Creating Collage Paper class online Oct. 7

September 23, 2020

Milton Arts Guild will offer a virtual Creating Collage Paper class with Kathy Fessenbecker from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, via Zoom. The fee is $20.

Attendees will learn how to create effects with color and texture. Creating the building blocks of collage is almost meditative as one watches colors meld and shapes appear.

Students will need tissue paper, favorite watercolor or acrylic paints, brushes, toothbrush, any tool for a great splatter, spray bottle, water container, paper towels, large black plastic trash bags and an area to place papers to dry before moving on to the next one.

It’s a good idea to protect the work surface and floor with other trash bags or plastic in case of drips and splatters that don’t make it onto the paper. And of course, participants should wear old clothes or an apron.

Fessenbecker began her artistic journey over 30 years ago with porcelain painting. She then tackled watercolor, expanding her interests to color pencils, oil and acrylic painting, then collage and mixed media. She builds on her knowledge with private classes and workshops. “There are always new materials and methods to express yourself. The creative urge continues to keep me creating and stretching. I currently love working with mixed media and creating work with a loose look frequently inspired by nature,” she said.
