Cynthia ‘Marie’ Walker, had strong faith in God

January 21, 2019

Cynthia "Marie" Walker, 76, of Laurel passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, in her home with her loved ones by her side after a valiant battle with a long illness.

Born April 19, 1942, in Wilmington, she was the daughter of Dorothy Reed and Charles Cobourn.  She was one of four children.

Marie attended Newark High School and graduated with the class of 1960.  She worked as a waitress/entertainer at the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater in Kennett Square, Pa.  She later moved to Laurel with her children where she enjoyed working out in her yard, preparing delicious meals, visiting with family and friends, and listening to her beloved music.

She enjoyed going on trips, watching movies, especially musicals, reading, and studying the bible.  She was an animated storyteller and had many creative, artistic talents.  She didn't have much, but what she had, she made beautiful.  She had a strong faith in God and relied on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for comfort during difficult illnesses throughout her life.  She kept a positive spirit and always had a song on her lips and love in her heart.

She is survived by her children, Valerie Ward of Worton, Md., Charles Walker (Janean) of Elkton, Md., Connie Wood of Millsboro, April Joseph (James) of Laurel, Robert Walker of Laurel, Stephen Walker of Georgetown and Regina Rearic (David) of Federalsburg, Md.  She also leaves behind her beloved 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., with a funeral service following immediately after at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro.  Burial will follow in Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro.
