Dagsboro Boys & Girls Club breaks ground for expansion

June 5, 2019

The Dagsboro Boys & Girls Club recently held a ceremonial groundbreaking for its upcoming expansion project.

“It has been a dream of the Dagsboro club to grow its footprint,” said Director Betty Harmon. “Being able to serve more kids and teens from our community is our ultimate goal, and this new space will allow us to do it.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware President & CEO John Wellons recognized the importance of unit board leadership, and the organization’s partnership with Dagsboro Church of God and its role in working to make the expansion a reality. “Sherman Townsend and Welfare Foundation were instrumental in sourcing key funds to support the project. We look forward to growing our club to serve 200 more school-age members and start a program for teenagers,” said Wellons.

Special thanks at the event were given to The Atlantis Fund, Duane Lynch Family in Memory of Herbert & Myrtha Calhoun, In Memory of Raymond & Pearl Townsend, Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation, Welfare Foundation, and honored guests Rep. Richard G. Collins, R-Millsboro; Pastor Alan Greijack, Dagsboro Church of God; Broadpoint Construction; and Dagsboro club board members, staff and the most important guests of all, the club kids.
