David ‘Dave’ Montgomery, worked in construction

David “Dave” Lajoy Montgomery, 82, passed away peacefully at Brandywine Assisted Living, Rehoboth, Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.

Dave was born in Cassity, W.Va., to the late Hartsell and Naomi (Fox) Montgomery. He owned an excavating business and worked tirelessly in construction. He even built his own quadradome home. Mr. Montgomery was a founder of and volunteer with the Linden Volunteer Fire Department in Linden, Va. Dave loved being out in nature whether hunting or fishing, and also enjoyed playing pool. He also loved travelling and spend years driving an RV across the U.S. and Canada.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his son, Ricky W. Montgomery; and sisters Frances Mills and Mary Lamb.

He is survived by his wife Donatienne Lerolle; children David L. and Sherri Montgomery, Ronald W. Montgomery, Pamela K. Montgomery, and Stephanie D. and Thomas Gallo; four stepdaughters; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial services will be private.
