David Boynton Weed of Milford passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and after valiantly fighting aggressive cancer for two years.

David, twin to his brother Wesley, was born the sixth child to Jane (Boynton) and William Weed of Hornell, N.Y., March 26, 1953. A graduate of Hornell High School, he then served honorably for three years in the U.S. Air Force as a plumbing specialist. David subsequently had a long and fulfilling career as a wastewater treatment operator for several local corporations in the Southern Delaware area.

David enjoyed hunting (especially in upstate N.Y.), fishing, golfing, music, reading and entertaining family and friends with his famous shrimp boil. He was also a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. His “passionate” commentary on Facebook may have led you to believe otherwise but his loyalty to his teams ran just as deep as his love for his family and friends.

David was predeceased by his parents, Jane and Bill Weed; his twin, Wesley; his brothers, Matthew and Stanley; and his sister, Marcia Shihadeh. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Noelle (Sylvanus); his adored daughters, Haley Weed and Whitney Weed Avery (Ryan); his precious grandchildren, Zoey, Nicholas, Rhiannon and Merrick Avery; and Noelle’s parents, Jean and Francis Mitchell. Also surviving are his brother, Luke Weed; and sisters, Lucia Sacco (Mark), Georgia Stanford (Jon) and Suzanne Monaghan (Allen). In addition, David leaves behind several nieces and nephews, among them Danielle and Jonathan Weed, to whom he was a father figure.

David loved without reserve his friends, his colleagues, his and Noelle’s families, his honorary grandchildren Walker, Margot and Mason, his medical team, and his faithful canine friends JoJo and Maci, all of whom, along with his devoted family, loved and uplifted him before and during these last challenging years. The family extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who helped with appointments, projects around the house, visits and countless acts of kindness. A special thank you to his breakfast crew for the friendship and laughter he so looked forward to. Despite the outcome, David lived every day with gratitude and joy for a life well lived. In his own words, he said, “I’ve had a great life, I’m good with myself, and I’m good with my God.”

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.

David credited his 45 years of sobriety to Alcoholics Anonymous, and to honor his memory, consider a donation to an organization fighting addiction, Operation Wake Surf, or to the American Cancer Society.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold the door for a stranger, thank a service member or enjoy a hot cup of coffee in his honor.
