David R. Cornish Sr., owned businesses

David R. Cornish Sr., 78, of Millsboro passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

Mr. Cornish was born in Glenolden, Pa., to the late Robert and Florence Walls Cornish. He worked as a night clerk for 11 years at the Heritage Inn in Rehoboth Beach before his illness. In his earlier years, he and his wife owned and operated several businesses in the area: Edy’s Ice Cream and Fudgery in Lewes, Autumn Bay Café in Seaford, and Angie’s Ice Cream at the Laurel Flea Market. They also catered for the Adult Education Division at Sussex Tech. David will be remembered for his warped sense of humor, his hard work ethic and his devotion to his family, always putting them first.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Angeline M. Cornish of Millsboro; three children, David R. Cornish Jr. and his wife Emmy of Delmar, Michelle Stillman and her husband John Mayfield of Ridley, Pa., and John Stillman and his wife Shannon of Milford. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Addisson, Collins, Emersyn, Kimberly, Sabrina, Natasha, Zefryn, Cyrus, Jacob and Joshua; one great-grandson, Benjamin; and special friends, Trudy and Spencer. He also adored his canine friends Roxie and Pumpkin, and a feline friend, Hercules.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. for visitation. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
